Highlights of the story
- Aam Aadmi party in the direction of becoming a national party
- Kejriwal’s focus on the upcoming state elections
- There will now be a triangular contest in Gujarat-Himachal
After the massive victory in Punjab, the mood of the Aam Aadmi party is high. Delhi party convener and chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has now begun setting up organizations in other states of the country to increase its political base nationwide. Focusing on the upcoming elections to the assembly, Delhi government ministers have been given the responsibility of states like Himachal, Gujarat, Assam, Chhattisgarh and so on. It is clear that Kejriwal wants to give national height to his political flight.
Last week, the Aam Aadmi party announced the names of its 9 state officials. Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain has been appointed in charge of Himachal Pradesh elections. Party leader Durgesh Pathak has already been named in charge. Ratnesh Pathak has also been sent to Himachal and has been asked to stay there to see the work of the organization.
Party MP Rajesh Sharma has been in charge of Assam. Minister Gopal Rai and Burari MP Sanjeev Jha have been in charge of Chhattisgarh. The party has handed over command of Haryana to deputy Saurabh Bhardwaj of South Delhi and Vinay Mishra, deputy of Dwarka, Rajasthan. Somnath Bharti, Malviya Nagar MP and former Minister of Law of the Delhi government, has been appointed as the person in charge of the Telangana elections.
To strengthen the organization in Kerala, A Raja has taken over there, while the MLA of Tilak Nagar in Delhi, Jarnail Singh and Dr. Sandeep Pathak have taken over Punjab. Kejriwal appointed the elections by the majority of the states to the same leaders who have won the elections to the Delhi Assembly for the third time.
Elections in Himachal this year, AAP will bet
The battle of Himachal Pradesh has been bipolar so far, but now the Aam Aadmi Party is in the process of trying its luck as a third. Of the state’s 68 total seats, 43 are occupied by the BJP, while Congress sits in opposition with 22 deputies. In such a situation, the way the AAP has pulled the ground from Congress in Punjab, the biggest concern is Congress. Kejriwal’s match can pose a challenge even in front of CM Jairam Thakur. However, Himachal’s policy is different from the Punjab’s political mood.
AAP will be able to save the distance from Delhi to Gujarat
The Aam Aadmi party, led by Kejriwal, had performed brilliantly in Gujarat’s civic polls last year, winning 27 seats in the Surat Municipal Corporation. The reason for this AAP victory was that Congress could not win a single seat in these areas. Although most of the candidates announced by AAP in these elections were candidates who left the BJP or Congress, but the results made it clear that the next goal of the AAP will be Gujarat.
Although the distance from Gujarat from Delhi is more than 500 kilometers, but the distance in political issues and ideas here is much more than that. Aaj Tak senior journalist Gopi Ghanghar says the organization of the Aam Aadmi party in Gujarat is not at a higher level than the BJP currently. In the last election, the AAP wanted to run in 182 seats, but did not even get the candidates to run in the election. He highlighted the strength of the organization during the civic polls, but it is still nothing compared to the BJP.
Gopi believes that the leader of the party, Arvind Kejriwal, is also very clear. Their goal would be the election of the 27th and not the 22nd, but they would like to lay the groundwork for this election. This strategy of elections to the assembly can be understood from Kejriwal’s Punjab model. First the role of the main opposition party and then immediately. However, since the creation of Gujarat, there has been a struggle between Congress and the BJP in the state. If Kejriwal can make this contest triangular, then it will be a big hit for the match.
Gopi Ghanghar says that from the Delhi elections to the Punjab elections, the trend that the AAP has defeated Congress was common. The AAP has damaged BJP only in terms of percentage of votes. As in Goa and Uttarakhand, the AAP fought in the elections with all its might, from which it won 2 seats in Goa, but in Uttarakhand most of the candidates lost their deposits. The seats where the AAP fought the BJP were only an anti-concern factor. Last month, the Aam Aadmi party had also won two seats in the Assam municipal elections.
The AAP is not far from becoming a national party
There are currently about 400 registered political parties in the country, but only 7 have national party status. Bhagwant Mann has resigned from Lok Sabha. In this situation, the AAP has become zero in the Lok Sabha, but now the party has 8 deputies in the Rajya Sabha. In this way, the AAP has become the number five party in the upper house of Parliament. To become a national party, a party must become a regional party in four states. Now to become a regional party, you need to have six percent of the vote and two seats in the assembly elections. The AAP is already a regional party in Delhi and Punjab. This time it has been made possible in Goa. Assembly elections are scheduled in Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat in October. If the AAP works well in any of these states, it will gain national party status.
The AAP caravan is growing rapidly
The Aam Aadmi Party formed on October 2, 2012 will achieve both in less than 10 years. No political expert would have guessed. But, the Aam Aadmi party has increased its graph rapidly. He is stretching his feet in one state after another. The party will now contest the civic polls to be held in Uttar Pradesh later this year and will also try its luck in the Haryana civic polls. Rajya Sabha MP and Haryana party leader Sushil Gupta has said the Aam Aadmi party will run in the elections for Haryana’s 41 municipal bodies.
Active in UP, but showed no effect
Aam Aadmi Party also has a team in Uttar Pradesh. In the 2017 UP civic elections, the Aam Aadmi party had won 19 members of Nagar Panchayat, 2 presidents of Nagar Panchayat, 17 members of Nagar Palika Parishad and 3 city councilors. Although the Aam Aadmi party had played in winning some seats in the civic elections, but it could not show its effect in the 2017-2022 assembly and the 2014-2019 Lok Sabha elections. Sanjay Singh himself is from the UP and Kejriwal has also contested against Modi in Kashi in 2014. Even after that, the AAP was unable to strengthen its political roots in the state.
Where did Aam Aadmi get the defeat of the match?
The Aam Aadmi Party may have occupied the power of Delhi and the Punjab, but the magic of Kejriwal is still fading in many states. In recent years, AAP has tried many combinations of permutation and accumulation, in which some were successful and some were also defeated. The party suffered a massive defeat in the elections to the Madhya Pradesh Assembly. Apart from that, the party suffered great disappointment in the assembly elections in Haryana, Uttarakhand and Gujarat. The same fate befell the UP assembly, but as soon as the party brought good news from Goa, it remains to be seen how Kejriwal builds a political base in other states of the country?
