One of the four-day-old newborn twins died Monday night at the Modern Pediatric Center of Yamunanagar Civil Hospital. The family alleges the boy died due to the negligence of the hospital doctors. They were not informed in time about the child’s critical condition. After the death, he was asked to take the child to PGI Chandigarh. At the same time, doctors described the allegations as unfounded. NHM staff at the Modern Pediatric Center are on strike for three days starting Monday.

Twins were admitted

Abid, a resident of Chandpur in the city, said his wife Mehruba gave birth to twins on June 24 at a private hospital in Jagadhri. Among them was a boy and a girl. The hospital doctor had said the two children are weak, so they will have to keep them in front of the mirror. Both were kept in the mirror of the Modern Pediatric Center of Yamunanagar Civil Hospital. On Monday night he was told that his son’s condition was bad so he had to take him to PGI Chandigarh.

Abid alleges that when he was informed of this, the boy had already died. Hospital doctors did not inform him in time. If they had told him in time, perhaps his son would have been alive. Relatives protested against the hospital doctors for the late information and demanded action. Later, the family took the dead child home. Along with that, he also took his daughter with him.

The doctor said, he had said at five in the evening, he came at eight

On the other hand, Dr. Parul Vashisht of the Modern Pediatric Center says Mehruba, 18, had twins. Her son weighed two kilos and the daughter’s only 400 grams. Both were being properly cared for in the mirror. Her son cried late after he was born. He had also had a stroke once. Apart from that, he also had difficulty breathing. The boy’s grandmother was in the hospital at five on Monday evening, who was told his condition was bad, so he had to take her to the PGI. Her grandmother had said her son would come in a while. So only after talking to him will he take her somewhere. According to the doctor, the boy’s father arrived at the hospital at 8.30pm. After nine o’clock the boy died. If the family had taken the child to the hospital on time, he could have survived. The fault lies with him, but false allegations of negligence are being filed against the doctor.

Center staff is on strike

According to Dr. Parul, the modern pediatric center has a staff of 25 to 30 employees at NHM. The entire staff is on strike for three days. At the same time, 15 children from Jagadhri Civil Hospital were suddenly referred to Yamunanagar. Despite the lack of staff, doctors cared for all the children at their level.
