The BJP has intensified its campaign in its stronghold in central Gujarat, where the Aam Aadmi party is weak. Vadodara is located in the center of central Gujarat. Prime Minister Modi had chosen the seat of Vadodara in 2014 for his elections in Lok Sabha.
The BJP’s evolving strategy in Gujarat indicates that the party may replace its main rival, Congress, with the Aam Aadmi Party as its main opponent for a seventh consecutive victory in the state elections scheduled for the end of the year, despite that the BJP in the face of this. He is proving that he is giving Congress a place of opposition. At the same time, the Aam Aadmi Party is happy with the situation that is being created in the state as the BJP moves forward with its own style.
The BJP has been a strong force in the state. When a delegation of 17 members of the BJP arrived in Delhi to ask about the basic reality about education and school health care of the Aam Aadmi Party, the people of Arvind Kejriwal were also shown that they were welcome from a single voice, protesting against Gandhinagar’s guests.
Guests coming from behind Gandhinagar created trouble for their state party. Gujarat Education Minister Jitu Vaghani on Tuesday denied that the state unit had sent his team to Delhi. However, the official Delhi BJP Twitter account tweeted a picture of the Gujarat BJP delegation saying, “Welcome to the Gujarat delegation in Delhi to see Kejriwal’s fake Delhi model.” Never before had the saffron camp shown so much panic.
After that, a flood of complaints from both parties began. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia responded to the BJP movement. Sisodia tweeted: “Newspaper reports suggest the Gujarat BJP team will come to Delhi to visit mohalla schools and clinics. We have formed a team of five MPs who will go with the BJP team to welcome the team. of Gujarat “.
Sisodia further wrote: “These five MPs from the Aam Aadmi party will go to Gujarat in a week’s time to see the schools and hospitals there. I am sure the Gujarat government will welcome our team in the same way and the it will allow us to see the state of schools and hospitals there. “
Gujarat party leader Aam Aadmi, Gopal Italia, pointed to the BJP government. He told the media, “I would like the BJP team to learn something from the Delhi system and try to implement it in Gujarat.” Italy said: “BJP leaders in Gujarat are commercializing education by initiating trust on behalf of their parents and private schools. I would like the BJP team not to spread misinformation among people after returning to Gujarat.”
The wave of fierce competition for the “Delhi model and the Gujarat model” of development began only after Manish Sisodia visited a government school in Bhavnagar two months ago. If we take a look at the electoral records after 2017, it is shown that the BJP has not lost a single election in Gujarat. If you try to know the position of the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party mainly in opposition, you will find that Kejriwal’s party seems to be occupying the place of the Congress fighting for its existence.
However, the Aam Aadmi Party is constantly struggling with the difficulty of its leaders to leave the party. A day after the announcement of the organization of 850 members of the Aam Aadmi Party for the Gujarat elections, internal disputes erupted. Some senior leaders also resigned. A Gujarat political analyst says: “Remember that splitting the anti-incumbent vote will benefit the BJP.”
However, the Aam Aadmi party is trying to break its image of weakness in Gujarat. The Aam Aadmi party is walking the same path that the BJP had prepared its ground here many years ago. An example of this is Mehsana, where Aam Aadmi party national convener Arvind Kejriwal has planned to penetrate the BJP stronghold by adopting the same strategy as the BJP camp to succeed in elections.
PM Modi is present as a brand with the BJP. The strength of the party derives from the management up to house level, which is present in all the villages. The Aam Aadmi Party is also trying to model itself around its well-known national leader Arvind Kejriwal. Arvind Kejriwal took advantage of the anger of Punjab voters which resulted in a massive defeat for all major parties in the February elections.
Here the BJP has the majority in all local bodies, be it Municipal Corporation, Zilla Panchayat or Taluka Panchayat. In the 2017 assembly elections, the BJP won all seven seats in the Vadodara Lok Sabha constituency.
Central Gujarat includes the districts of Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Anand, Kheda, Dahod, Panchmahal and Chhota Udaipur. From this area 61 deputies arrive at the assembly. The region is dominated by Adivasis, OBC and Patidars. If trends are to be believed, Congress usually wins in tribal-dominated areas, while the BJP in OBC and Patidar-dominated areas. However, the situation may be completely different in the 2022 election.
The region has a maximum of a dozen seats reserved for tribal communities. The Vadodara city headquarters is reserved for the Dalit community. Both the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party have a perception that Congress has neither the will nor the vision of Gujarat. Gujarat party leader Aam Aadmi Italy says: “We are presenting an alternative model of development in Delhi based on the work of the government of Arvind Kejriwal.”
He told The Indian Express in an interview: “We have real problems like education, health, electricity and regular water supply to do politics. How will the general public benefit from polarization and engineering policy? BJP and Congress? For centuries, these parties have pitted one community against another for their political gains. We are presenting something that neither of these two parties has: “policy of action.”
