In the second phase of the urban body elections in Dewas district, counting of votes was done in Municipal Corporation Dewas, Municipal Council Sonkachh, Peeplarwana, Bhaunrasa and Tonkkhurd. In Dewas, the BJP candidate for the post of mayor Geeta Agarwal was elected by a margin of 45 thousand 884 votes. BJP has performed well in Dewas. Out of 45 districts of Dewas Municipal Corporation, BJP won in 32, Congress in 8 and independent candidates in 05 districts.

Geeta Aggarwal has the advantage of being close to the royal family. Congress candidate Vinodini Ramesh Vyas, on the other hand, has been a victim of factionalism within the party. Vyas has suffered because of the party’s rebel candidate Manisha Chaudhary. Manisha has more than 12 thousand votes, she is believed to be from the Congress vote bank. From the first round, the BJP did not give the Congress a chance to open its hands firmly. After the third round till around 11, the BJP’s situation got stronger. At noon, in the fourth round, BJP’s Geeta Agarwal was ahead of Congress’s Vinodni Ramesh Vyas by about 40 thousand votes. After that, the color of the lotus turned darker and in the eighth round, BJP’s Geeta Durgesh Agarwal registered a historic victory.

BJP’s Geeta got 89 thousand 502 votes and Congress candidate Vinodini Ramesh Vyas got 43 thousand 618 votes. Independent Manisha Deepak Chaudhary got 12 thousand 367 votes, Aam Aadmi Party candidate Chana Gyanesh got 7 thousand 534 votes, Independent candidate Zubaidabi Hatam Darbar got 06 thousand 913 votes, Bahujan Samajwadi Party candidate Nikita Suryavanshi got 03 thousand 796 votes and NOTE. He got 690 votes.

In Sonkachh Municipal Council, BJP candidates won in four wards, Congress candidates in five and independents in six. In Nagar Parishad Pipalrawan, BJP candidates have won in 12 wards, Bahujan Samajwadi Party candidate in one ward and independent candidates in two wards. In Nagar Parishad Bhunarasa, BJP candidates won in eight wards, Congress in six wards and independent candidates in 01 ward. In Tonkkhurd Municipal Council, BJP candidates won in 05 wards and independent candidates in 10 wards . In the second phase, out of 105 wards of Dewas Municipal Corporation and four municipal councils, BJP candidates have been elected in 61 wards, Congress in 19 wards, Bahujan Samajwadi Party in 01 wards and independent candidates in 24 wards.

Collector Chandramouli Shukla distributed the winning certificates to the elected candidates of Dewas Municipal Corporation and the wardens of the respective municipalities distributed the certificates. We report that in the second phase of the district, 01 lakh 95 thousand 977 voters out of total 02 lakh 75 thousand 672 voters voted in Dewas Municipal Corporation, Nagar Parishad Sonkachh, Pipalranwa, Bhunrasa and Tonkkhurd. In which 01 lakh 03 thousand 095 male voters, 92 thousand 881 female voters and 01 other voters had cast their vote.

In the second phase of the district poll, 69% polling was recorded in the Dewas Municipal Corporation. In which the percentage of male voters was 71.63 and that of women 66.28 percent. In Dewas Municipal Corporation, out of 2 lakh 39 thousand 652 voters, 01 lakh 65 thousand 376 voters voted. In which 87 thousand 195 male voters, 78 thousand 180 female voters and 01 other voters had voted. In the second phase of district-wide polling, a total of 331 polling stations were set up for 105 districts. In this, 269 polling stations of 45 districts were established in Municipal Corporation Dewas, 19 polling stations for 15 districts in Sonkach Nagar Parishad and 14 in Piplranwa Nagar Parishad, 15 in Bhaunrasa, 14 in Tonkkhurd.
