Sports Minister Anurag Thakur introduced the National Anti-Doping Bill
The Lok Sabha on Wednesday passed a bill to provide a statutory framework for the functioning of the National Anti-Doping Agency and the National Doping Testing Laboratory. The National Anti-Doping Bill introduced by Sports Minister Anurag Thakur will strengthen measures to prevent drug abuse by athletes. Thakur said the bill would give effect to a United Nations anti-doping convention. Introducing the bill for consideration and approval, Thakur recalled the achievements of Indian sportspersons in the recent past and expressed hope that Indians would win more medals in international tournaments in the future. The Bill aims to provide a statutory framework for the functioning of the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA), the National Doping Testing Laboratory (NDTL) and other doping control laboratories and for the creation of a National Anti-Doping Board.

More than 50 percent of recognized Indian startups from non-metro cities
Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Som Prakash informed Parliament on Wednesday that more than 50% of recognized Indian startups are from non-metro cities. As of June 30, 2022, DPIIT recognizes a total of 72,993 startups, of which 34,473 (48%) are from the metropolitan cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Pune and Ahmedabad. Therefore, more than 50% of recognized startups belong to non-metropolitan cities. He said in reply to a question in Lok Sabha whether 50% of the recognized startups in the country are from tier II and III cities. He further said that the startup and innovation ecosystem are the growth engines of any country.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh told the Lok Sabha on Wednesday that the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has earned $279 million in foreign exchange by launching satellites for global clients through its commercial wing . In a written reply to a question, Jitendra Singh said that ISRO along with its commercial arm has successfully launched 345 foreign satellites from 34 countries on the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV). Singh said the total foreign exchange earnings earned from launching foreign satellites is US$56 million and around EUR 220 million.

More than 7.22 lakh recruitments recommended by agencies
Recruitment agencies recommended more than 7.22 lakh out of more than 22.05 million applicants for central government jobs during 2014 and 2022, the Lok Sabha was informed on Wednesday. According to a written reply by Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Personnel, recruitment agencies recommended 7,22,311 candidates for appointment in various central government departments from 2014-15 to 2021-22. Of these, 38,850 in 2021-22, 78,555 in 2020-21, 1,47,096 in 2019-20, 38,100 in 2018-19, 76,147 in 2017-18, 1,017,096 in 2019-20, 38,100 in 2018-19 , 76,147 in 2017-18, 1,017,017, 16. and 1,30,423 recruitments were carried out during 2014-15.

Investigation into allegations of misconduct by Delhi Police
