Rapid Rail: 12 km elevated track ready between Duhai and Shatabdinagar
Ghaziabad. More than 95% construction work has been completed on the 17-km priority stretch of Rapid Rail from Sahibabad to Duhai. After the first section in March 2023, the express train between Duhai and Meerut South is proposed to move to the second section in October 2023. In this situation, the construction work of the second section has gathered momentum. Between Duhai and Shatabdinagar, 12 km of elevated track has been completed out of a total of 30 km. The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has completed the construction of 850 of the 1100 pillars of the second stretch.
In this stretch, 6 km of elevated track has been prepared between Duhai and Muradnagar in Ghaziabad. Now NCRTC is getting ready to lay the tracks of this road and start the works of power lines. To prepare the track here, five launch gantry machines of NCRTC are busy at work. Track laying, signaling and OHE work between Duhai and Muradnagar is likely to be completed by October.
Preparation to bring the second Tunera of Gujarat
Excavation work of two kilometer long tunnel (tunnel) from Vaishali to Anand Vihar of Rapid Rail will start from September. The NCRTC has started preparations to bring Sudarshan, a giant 90 meter long Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) from Gujarat for tunnel excavation. Work is underway on the route to carry the parts of the giant TBM. After the arrival of Sudarshan, it will first be lowered into the big shaft (cast) made before the tunnel at Vaishali. The work of connecting its main parts has been completed by the end of September, when the excavation work will begin.
Muradnagar, Modinagar North and South stations will be ready soon
In the second section of Rapid Rail, a total of three stations are proposed to be built in Ghaziabad. Out of these, the construction works of Muradnagar, Modinagar North and Modinagar South are in progress. Platform work has started at Muradnagar fast station. The construction of the stations is expected to be completed in the coming months. The works will soon reach the platform level at both Modinagar stations.

NCRTC CPRO Puneet Vats said that 85 percent of the pillar construction work has been completed between Duhai and Meerut Shatabdi Nagar in the second section. With the completion of the pillar work, the work on the elevated road has gained momentum. At the same time, in view of the proposed trial execution after two months, the construction works of the first priority section have reached the advanced level.
