Changes in organizational posts are common in BJP or any political party. But the appointment of Uttar Pradesh BJP Organization Minister Sunil Bansal as national general secretary is not seen very easily. While Bansal has been removed from a state and became the national general secretary. Party Seeing it as a very important organizational appointment, the Bharatiya Janata Party has appointed its leader and strategist Sunil Bansal as the party’s national general secretary. Bansal was the organization minister in Uttar Pradesh for a long time. He had a good grasp of organization and government. Dharampal has been replaced as Organization Minister in place of Sunil Bansal.
Sources in the party say that the reshuffling of responsibilities had to be done for a long time, it took some time in the talks to fix the responsibilities keeping in mind the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, but it was decided on right man for the right position.
Many in the party believe that Bansal has been rewarded for his organizational work, which helped the BJP win election after election in a crucial state like UP after the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, which returned 80 MPs to Parliament. A former Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) worker working in Rajasthan, he grew in stature when Amit Shah selected him for the 2014 election job in UP. It was not difficult for Bansal to learn the intricacies of caste given his background in Rajasthan, where caste also plays an important role in elections. Bansal was also waiting for his new post.

Party sources believe there is a bigger game plan behind not giving Bansal another charge as organization minister or inducting him as deputy general secretary (organization) BL Santosh. Bansal has taken charge of West Bengal, Telangana and Odisha. While the BJP is struggling to remain the dominant opposition party in Bengal, where the party lacks a central leadership to hold it together. There was a feeling among local leaders that the central leadership left them after the 2021 assembly elections. West Bengal has 42 Lok Sabha seats and in 2019 the party won 18. With Bansal taking over here, many hope that the party’s fortunes will improve.
The BJP has high hopes of victory in Telangana, where assembly elections will be held in 2023 and parliamentary elections in 2024. There are 17 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state. Odisha has 21 Lok Sabha seats and of these eight are held by the BJP. As a seasoned strategist who has the ability to stay on the ground and implement the plan prepared by the top leadership, Bansal is expected to work more closely with the top leadership, especially Home Minister Amit Shah.
Dharampal was the organizing minister of UP
According to a senior ABVP official who worked with him and witnessed his rise, Dharam Pal was instrumental in ensuring the BJP’s victory in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. “In November 2016 , Dharam Pal organized the largest gathering of one lakh people in UP before the elections. He started an experiment among the youth. He started mobilizing the youth on a large scale and started the student dialogue before organizing the rally. The gist of the discussion became an agenda for the BJP in the elections. ,
Dharam Pal, a resident of Kannauj, held various responsibilities in ABVP. He was the Minister of Provincial Organization and was in charge of Western UP. Making Lucknow his base, he was the minister for regional organization. Sources close to the new UP general secretary (organization) say he is a skilled organizer who was sent to Jharkhand as the organization minister. However, Pal is likely to face several challenges: maintaining the balance between the government and the organization as well as between the state and the Centre.
Karamveer became the Organization Minister of Jharkhand
Karamveer, Joint General Secretary (Organization), Uttar Pradesh, has been promoted as General Secretary (Organization), Jharkhand. While there was talk of Bansal’s promotion, many believe he was ousted due to internal politics.

“Also, he cannot be retained as Karamveer is superior to Dharam Pal in unity,” said a party leader. BJP sources believe that Jharkhand is on the party’s radar with the volatile situation of the ruling JMM-Congress alliance in the state and hence the party needs an experienced person to strengthen the organization till it comes to power.
