The Jammu Municipal Corporation has failed to generate revenue even after four years of its formation. The Municipal Corporation only depends on the subsidy of 125 million. Of these 110 million are allocated to other works, including the salary. The remaining 15 million is allocated to development works, which are insufficient for 75 neighborhoods.
Since its establishment in 2018, the Municipal Corporation has not taken any concrete measures to increase the means of income. The Municipal Corporation’s income from other sources is around 28 million. It is not possible to develop this amount in 75 neighborhoods. Every time the councilors make a budget demand in the house, but they cannot get the amount as per the requirement. As a result, the development works in the halls are not being completed. The city is being developed through the same Smart City project.

86 lakhs for shops, 21 lakhs for plot rent, 48 lakhs for building rent, 30 lakhs for community hall, 12 lakhs for godowns, 34 lakhs for open spaces, 18 lakhs for NOC fees, nine lakhs of parking, 15 lakhs from street license There is an income of three lakh rupees from trade tax. Bright city with smart city project
Currently, development works are being done in the city only under the Smart City project. City beautification, LED lights, Tawi river frontage, bridge decoration with decorative lights, parking lots and many other works are being done in this.

From 2018 to 2019, the municipal corporation was able to get only five lakh rupees from each ward in a year. This made the work of councilors very difficult. Many works were stopped. The pace of development works has picked up after the start of the Smart City project in 2020.
The budget for the drains was met from the Swachh Bharat Mission
Drains and other works are being taken up in the city with the budget of other Centre’s projects like the Swachh Bharat Mission. Even now the people of the city are forced to walk on the roads built twenty years ago. Apart from this, the condition of the drains has not improved much.
