Similarly, Nargis Dutt was the first female actress of Indian cinema to reach the Rajya Sabha. He went to Rajya Sabha in 1980.

Amitabh Bachchan: The first ‘silsila’ of film politics
Amitabh Bachchan, the star of the film Silsila, also sang two songs in the film and both the songs gained immense popularity. Amitabh entered politics in 1984, about 3 years after the release of the film. In December 1984, general elections were held in the country after the assassination of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Superstar Amitabh, who is said to be very close to Rajiv Gandhi, decided to enter politics on the advice of his friend.
Amitabh had contested the election from the Allahabad (now Prayagraj) Lok Sabha seat. Amitabh, who came out to contest the elections on a Congress ticket, had filed his nomination on the last day. He easily defeated Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna, former chief minister of the state and Lok Dal candidate in the election. However, despite getting a big win, Amitabh did not get involved in politics and after being an MP for just 3 years, he avoided politics. Then he moved away from politics.
Jaya Bachchan: ‘Silsila’ connected to Parliament 4 times in a row
Jaya Bachchan played the role of Amitabh Bachchan’s wife in the film Silsila. Although he entered politics 23 years after the release of the film Silsila and played a successful innings. Jaya became a Rajya Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh from the Samajwadi Party for the first time in 2004. Since then she has been an MP till date. She is the deputy for the fourth time and will continue to be a deputy until 2024.

Rekha: ‘Silsila’ started after 3 decades

Javed wrote 3 songs in this movie. ‘Neela Asmaan So Gaya’, ‘Dekha Ek Khwaab’ and ‘Yeh Kahan Aa Gaye Hum’ and the three songs written by him have achieved immortality and these songs are listened to by the present generation with great fervor. Javed Akhtar, who is an active writer in films, has also been active in politics and is known for his outspoken comments. He became a Rajya Sabha MP on 22 March 2010 and retired in 2016.
Lata Mangeshkar: First ‘Silsila’ associated with Rajya Sabha
The fifth name in the list of people associated with the film Silsila is Lata Mangeshkar. Lata became an MP through the Rajya Sabha on 22 November 1999, 18 years after the film’s release. He completed his term of 5 years in 2005. Amitabh Bachchan reached the Parliament (Lok Sabha) first among the 5 celebrities associated with the film Silsila, followed by Lata Mangeshkar and went to the Rajya Sabha.
