listen to the news
As soon as the news broke that a dozen of Arvind Kejriwal’s MLAs in Delhi were out of touch with the party, there was a sensation as soon as they entered the political corridor. This appeared to bolster the Aam Aadmi Party’s claim that efforts were being made to topple its Delhi government. Even during the legislative party meeting at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence in Civil Lines, unrest was growing with some MLAs not arriving on time and some unknown fears of the government falling in Maharashtra.
However, with the passage of time, all the MLAs reached the legislative party meeting at the Prime Minister’s residence and the party feared that some of its MLAs were thinking of breaking away from the party. Only those eight MLAs did not attend the meeting, who were away from Delhi on any other work known to the party. (As Manish Sisodia was campaigning in Himachal Pradesh, Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goyal is on a trip abroad. Satyendar Jain is in ED custody and five other Aam Aadmi Party MLAs are out of town for personal reasons.)
After the legislative party meeting, after reaching the mausoleum of Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat, Arvind Kejriwal also admitted that the faith of all his MLAs remained in the party. He also thanked God that he has found teammates like Manish Sisodia who are not willing to cheat him at any cost.
The big question is that when the trust of all party MLAs rests on Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party, why did the party claim that efforts are being made to topple their government? Is it an attempt to divert attention from the excise policy or is it an attempt to gain an edge in the Gujarat-Himachal Pradesh elections?
Won’t try to divert attention from excise case: BJP
Delhi BJP leader Harish Khurana is the person on whose complaint the case of alleged corruption in the excise policy has come to the fore. He told Amar Ujala that no BJP leader is in touch with Aam Aadmi Party MLAs. No attempt was made to overthrow the Delhi government. He alleged that this is a ‘drama’ created by Arvind Kejriwal with the aim of diverting people’s attention from the corruption in excise policy. But they will not allow any Aam Aadmi Party conspiracy to divert attention from this issue. Harish Khurana stated that corruption in excise policy is very clear and Manish Sisodia will surely go to jail in this case.
Who will benefit from it?
- If this is a political drama, who can benefit? On this issue, BJP leader Harish Khurana said that he does not even talk about his political gains and losses. They want to know from Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia that why there was so much corruption in Delhi amid their claim of honesty politics? He said the Aam Aadmi Party will have to answer how and where it spent the corrupt money earned in the Delhi liquor policy in the Punjab Assembly elections.
- BJP sources say the CBI has also found a money trail in this case. In this case, such faces are also coming out that have nothing to do with the liquor business and liquor stores. There are some officials of the Excise Department as well as some people who are people of completely civilian life who have no direct contact with her and can prove to be a great link to prove the money transaction. If the money trail proves in this case as claimed, the problems of many others may increase.
- Khurana said that till now Arvind Kejriwal was accusing the leaders of other parties of corruption and he should apologize to the court. But now he accuses the leaders of his own party of having been ‘sold out’ and himself issues a certificate of his honesty. He said this is the reason why the public understands that there is no truth in his claim and now his taints have been exposed.
Will Kejriwal benefit in Gujarat-Himachal?
Political pundit Sunil Pandey said that despite all the BJP’s claims, the Aam Aadmi Party is firm in its allegations. Saurabh Bhardwaj on Thursday also reiterated his claim that efforts are being made to break the party and bring down the government by luring its MLAs with Rs 20-25 crore. But due to the loyalty of the Aam Aadmi Party MLAs, this attempt by the BJP could not succeed.
However, the Aam Aadmi Party has so far not presented any such evidence to the public to show that any BJP leader was in touch with its leaders and trying to break the party. This is why doubts are raised about the Aam Aadmi Party’s claim. He said if the party has any proof, it should be presented to the public.
He said that at present, the Aam Aadmi Party has been successful in drawing people’s attention to another issue by provoking this debate. Now the talking point in media has changed which can be considered as the success of Aam Aadmi Party. However, it is difficult to say whether it will get any significant benefit in Gujarat and Himachal.
