India beat Pakistan in a thrilling Asia Cup match
Hardik Pandya’s role was most important in India’s win
Hardik played an unbeaten innings of 33 runs along with 3 wickets.

New Delhi. India defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets in their first Asia Cup match. With this win, India have settled the account of defeat in T20 World Cup 2021. Hardik Pandya proved to be India’s greatest batsman. He first inflicted a deep wound on Pakistan by taking 3 wickets with the ball and then turned the game around for India by hitting hard with the bat. Besides taking 3 wickets in the match, he scored 33 not out in 17 balls. For this reason, he was named the player of the match.

Ever since the 28-year-old Hardik Pandya has returned to the field from injury, his performance with the ball and the bat has been phenomenal. He has also been an incredible captain. In other words, he has been fit and successful in all roles. His performance has raised the hopes of the Indian team not only for the Asia Cup but also for the T20 World Cup.

Hardik came into bat after the dismissal of Suryakumar Yadav in the match against Pakistan, at that time India’s score was 89 for 4 wickets. India needed 59 runs in 36 balls to win. That is, 10 runs an over had to be scored and it was not easy to do that in front of Pakistani bowling. But, Hardik, showing understanding, batted carefully in the first 2 overs. He tried to hit only bad balls. His thinking was useful for India.

Hardik converted the match in 2 overs
Along with Jadeja, Hardik took India’s score to 127 runs in the 18th over. Now 21 runs were needed off the last 12 balls. In the 19th, Haris got to launch Rauf. Hardik changed gears at the same time and brought India back into the game by hitting three fours. India scored 14 runs in this over from Haris. Now in the last 6 balls, India needed 7 runs to win. But, Ravindra Jadeja got out on the first ball. It seemed that the dice of the match would be turned again. India scored 1 run in the next 2 balls. But, on the fourth ball, Hardik hit a Dhoni-esque six to give India the win.

Hardik used the keeper well
Earlier, Hardik bowling was also amazing. He bowled the entire 4 overs of his quota. But in the last over, this all-rounder dismissed the dangerous Mohammad Rizwan and Khushdil Shah and pushed Pakistan completely behind. Hardik showed Mohammad Rizwan the way to the pavilion on the first ball of his last over. Rizwan’s cover was important for India as he had scored 43 runs in 42 balls and if he had stayed at the crease till the last over, he could have taken the Pakistan team to a big score.

Hardik also knew it. That’s why he bowled the first ball of his over short, surprising Rizwan. The speed of this ball was 141 km per hour. Rizwan tried to play deep third man. But, the ball went straight to Avesh Khan, who was playing it and he made no mistake in taking the catch.

Hardik took all three wickets with a short tossed ball.
Khushdil became Hardik’s victim after just one ball. Pandya again bowled a short ball. Shah tried to cut it off. But due to the extra bounce of the ball, he couldn’t play it properly and the ball went straight into Jadeja’s hands placed at sweeper cover. In this way, Hardik broke the back of the batting by taking 2 wickets in a single over.

Team India’s tension ends with Hardik’s performance
Earlier, Hardik had also taken his first wicket in the short ball. Iftikhar Ahmed wanted to play the hook shot on this ball with a speed of 142 kmph. But, the ball went in the air behind the wicket and Dinesh Karthik did no harm. Hardik took all three wickets off the short ball. This is good for Team India. Even after his return, questions were raised about whether he would be able to play at the same pace as before, as he has been battling an ongoing back injury. He has also been operated on. But, against Pakistan, Hardik bowled consistently at 140 km per hour and really troubled the Pakistani batsmen with short balls.

Even 6 years ago, Hardik had inflicted injuries on Pak.
This is not the first time that Hardik has caused a serious injury to Pakistan in the Asia Cup. Earlier in the 2016 Asia Cup, Hardik took 3 wickets for 8 runs in 3.3 overs. The Pakistani team was then all out for 83 runs. This is Pakistan’s lowest score in T20 batting first.
