He was born in a Brahmin family of ‘Ahrauli Dixit’, a small village in Kushinagar district of Uttar Pradesh. At that time, daughters were not educated in the village, but my father broke this tradition. Along with studies, I also excelled in sports. I was against playing. He tried to stop me, then the older brother stayed. I heard a lot of teasing, but I didn’t give up. Namely, the first Lokpal from Mau district, Vinita Pandey, who beat the odds and became an example for women. It became a support for helpless and destitute lives. By nurturing thousands of talents and offering them jobs and today they are dedicated to carrying out the anti-corruption mission of the government. Read the story of Lokpal Vinita Pandey, in her own words.

I belong to a joint family where 15 people used to live together. The father worked in a sugar cane mill. Father is the sole breadwinner and 15 people in the house. I am the fifth of four sisters and two brothers in the family. At that time ‘Ahrauli Dixit’ was a village. However, it has now become a neighborhood of the city of Padrauna. At that time, marriage used to be a matter of concern and discussion more than the education of village girls. Now the daughters of the village illuminate the name by studying and writing. Dreaming of flying in the open sky.

Along with reading and writing, I also excelled in sports. In running and jumping, I played first at school, then at block, district and mandal level. When I had to go and participate at the Mandal level, then everyone refused. People said in father’s mouth, “First you sent boys to school and now you send them to play too.” Daughters of respectable houses do not like to jump and jump in such a field. The daughter should not be given so much leeway. He will run away with soot on his family’s face. At that time my older brother fought for me and stood by me. He didn’t answer anyone, but he didn’t let his words get in the way of my dreams. ,

When the state championship was won, people started calling PT Usha
I played first at the Mandal, then at the state level and came back winning. People gave me PT Usha, Udanpari and I don’t know what names. Some people would give new names with love and others would call them new names with sarcasm. While I was playing at the state level, I was highly praised by the stalwarts of the sports world. He told Bhaiya that Vineeta should stay in the hostel here and get training. There will also be proper nutrition and training here, but it was difficult for my brother to take this decision, because relatives do not agree, so he took care of my preparation himself. Wake up every morning between 3 and 4 am. Then the brother would walk back and forth on a bicycle and I would go back and forth.

Happiness turned to ashes in the heat of June
It is 1991. I was in class 10. Udanpari PT Usha had won back to back medals in many Asian championships. She has always been an inspiration to me. At that time I was playing National and I was preparing for the International with all passion. Bhaiya was training me very strictly. Then came a day in June that destroyed my dreams. If he had slept one night, he would never wake up again. Doctors said he had a heart attack while sleeping. A mountain of pain fell on the family. Elderly parents and young sister-in-law. For some months there was mourning and sadness in the house. Everyone’s life stopped. The financial situation of the house also deteriorated. He was my big brother, mentor and guide. The dream of playing international was not only my brother’s but also my brother’s, so I stopped playing as well.

Records made in BA and MA still stand
After studying 11th and 12th, he enrolled in Udit Narayan PG College Padrauna Kushinagar for further studies. The walls of the school were plastered with posters of the annual party. When the class teacher asked the girls to participate, they all submitted my name. He said that Vinita has been a champion, but I don’t know why, she didn’t want to play here. Teachers and friends made me register under pressure. However, I refused to participate. That day I went to the library angry. Picking up the magazine lying there, he became normal. Then my eyes fell on the player records made in college. In fact, a magazine would also come out in the university, in which those students of the university would be printed about those students who had made records in sports or any field while living there. After reading about some runners, he once again thought about coming to the track and this time he started preparing himself.

I had to compete in 5 events to be a varsity champion. Not only did I compete in 5 different running and jumping events, but I also broke every record set in the last 25 years. This cycle lasted 5 years. In 1999, I completed my Masters and joined Lucknow Christian Degree College for B.Ed. Lucknow Christian College and Gorakhpur University were also Senior National Champions in the All India University. By collecting their prizes and donations, the young children’s sporting talent began to blossom. Even today, every year the university calls me as a judge.

He studied law after he married, then became a magistrate
In 2003 I got married in a joint family. The husband is a teacher. Physical education is a very big subject and due to family responsibilities I could not devote so much time to it. In this situation, some years were done entirely in the name of the family. He then studied law and took the exam to enter the administrative service. In 2016 I became a children’s magistrate, where I worked for the protection, adoption and welfare of children. The children who were separated from their parents were reunited with their parents, for this they had to spend money alone, but this was nothing compared to the smile on the faces of the children and their parents.

Justice for 700 children and women
I have been raising my voice for my rights since my college days and this trend continued even after I joined administrative services. While a children’s magistrate, she helped more than 700 underprivileged and helpless girls and women get justice. It helped more than three thousand girls find work by training them in vocational courses. I have been motivating women to fight for their rights and still do today.

People involved in corruption create pressure, receive threats
In the year 2021, I was earmarked as the first Lokpal of Mau district. I have been working as a Lokpal for the last two years. This position has its own challenges. Responsibilities like getting the MNREGA works to be done as per the rule and with transparency, stopping the manipulations, getting the rights of the MNREGA workers and freeing the land from encroachment. Many people who spread corruption try to create pressure in different ways. Threats are also received, but I believe that if the Government of India has given me the responsibility, I will work with full impartiality. Nothing can get in the way, no pressure, no threat.

Mockers set my example…
As an officer, I maintain a balance in my personal life with the same passion that I take care of my professional work, because if there is no balance between personal and professional, life starts to get distorted. However, my husband and two children are fully supported in this endeavor. I like to spend time with my loved ones. I listen and hum Lata Mangeshkar songs to reduce stress. In my mother’s house, the people who told me that I never leave the house, mocked me, the same people give me an example. Teach daughters to choose a life of honor like me by reading and writing.

Let us tell you that just as Lokpal is appointed for the country, similarly Lokayukta and Up Lokayukta are appointed for the states, who work to check corruption in the state government. After receiving complaints of manipulation in the MNREGA scheme, the central government directed all states to appoint district-level Lokpal. Many states including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Rajasthan have appointed MGNREGA Lokpal in their respective states. With this, Vinita Pandey has become the district Lokpal of Mau.
